As part of our recent Women, Wine & Shoes events in Melbourne (18th April) and Brisbane (23rd April) we held Australia’s (and possibly the world’s!) first ever shoe and wine matching fashion parades!
(For the full write up of these events – which were about so much more than just the fashion parade – go here.)
Gorgeous models from Vivien’s graced the catwalk dressed in the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection from our fashion partners SpencerLacy. The muted, neutral tones and soft lines were inspired by nature, and designed for SpencerLacy by Belinda Abbot.
While the gasps and the ooh-aahs for this simply stunning collection were audible, there were plenty of laughs and giggles as we drew attention to what was on the model’s feet by matching their shoes with one of the wines available for tasting at the event.
Here’s how it played out!
Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Chardonnay & The Ballet Flat
The Ballet flat is the style we keep coming back to time and again. Comfortable, reliable, yet each renaissance brings something fresh to the table. Just like Chardonnay. And the Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Chardonnay is a classic example of today’s Chardonnay putting its best foot forward.
ArtWine Tempranillo & Cowboy Boot
From the wild west to the catwalk, the cowboy boot is striding its way across the globe and adding laid back but edgy attitude to our wardrobes. Pair your “boys” with a bottle of ArtWine’s full bodied Spanish Style Tempranillo.
Brown Brothers Prosecco & High Heel Peep Toe
Exciting, sexy and laden with Italian attitude these platform heels are the perfect match for Brown Brothers Prosecco. A delightfully crisp sparkling that has none of the pomp and ceremony of Champagne but still delivers all the same thrills.
Monument Vineyard Verdelho & Dusk Brogues
The Brogue is the classic archetypal shoe. It’s the shoe that really looks like….a shoe! So we think it has to be matched with a Verdelho – that whimsical wine variety that really tastes like a grape. The fresh and vibrant Verdelho from Monument Vineyard in the NSW Central Ranges.
Quealy Late Harvest Muscat & The Wedge
Never let a wedge come between you and the dessert. The comfortable wedge bootie will take you right the way through the evening in style, right up until that last sip of the succulent Late Harvest Muscat from Quealy Wines.
Barristers Block Wratonbully Cabernet Sauvignon & The Knee High Boot
Authoritarian, well-structured and always packs a punch. The Knee High Boot is the best friend of Cabernet Sauvignon. Barristers Block Wrattonbully Cab Sav is elegant and full bodied with a kitten glove finish.
Spring Seed Wine Company Pinot Grigio & The Block Heel
With broad appeal and the ability to knock ‘em dead in a wide range of occasions, The Block Heel has got to be the match for that all popular of wines Pinot Grigio. The Spring Seed Wine Co’s Poppy Pinot Grigio is Australia’s first certified organic PG, hailing from McLaren Vale.
Oliver’s Taranga Grenache & Ankle Boot
Hardworking, versatile but effortlessly chic in its own right, the ankle boot is the BFF for the ever adaptable Grenache. Oliver’s Taranga Grenache showcases this variety in all its flavour packed glory.
Holm Oak Pinot Noir & Stiletto Boot
Sophisticated, alluring, oozing sensuality and always a head turner, you’d step over your own mother to get some. The Stiletto boot and Pinot Noir from Tasmania’s Holm Oak Vineyard.
Anderson Winery Sparkling Shiraz & The Banana Peeptoe Heel
The black banana heel peeptoe takes you from the office to the evening. Perfect at Christmas when the party season is in full swing, and the Sparkling Shiraz is flowing – Anderson Winery Sparkling Shiraz of course!
