What went down at the Melbourne Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree, 6th February 2014 with Vinaceous Wines

It was hot, hot, HOT at the Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree at Campari House in Melbourne last Thursday night! And no, we are not just talking about the 35C summer evening temperature! The combination of superb food and flamboyant wines, introduced to us by Mr Vinaceous himself, was enough to get every heart racing….but combine that with a high class burlesque performance by Ms Sina King and you have the makings of a night to remember!

Thank you to all the fabulous ladies who joined us for an AMAZING evening. Not sure if we can top this event…but leave it to us – we will surely try!!!!

How it played out

We started the night up on the roof-top deck with a glass of sparkling Vinaceous Burlesque Blanc de Blanc NV served with canapés of smoked salmon en croute with horseradish, freshly shucked oyster with white wine shallot vinaigrette and three cheese arancini with quince puree – delicious!

Once we were all well acquainted, we moved downstairs to the antique dining room to cool down over an entrée of lightly fried calamari with pickled cabbage, lemon and aioli or (served alternately) zucchini flowers with mascarpone, pesto and olive tapenade. These were paired with Vinaceous ‘Sirenya’ Pinot Grigio 2013 and Vinaceous ‘Divine Light’ Sauvignon Blanc 2013. Our fabulous founder, Jane Thomson introduced us to Mr Vinaceous (aka Nick Stacy), who had travelled “from parts unknown” to be with us and was the consummate entertainer. Nick talked us through his wine-making process and let us in on a few secrets behind his eye-catching ‘Carnivale’ wine labels…they are all based on his ex-loves, and all have a hidden message in the picture. See if you can figure them out!

We were also introduced to the talented Leah Calnan of Metro Property Management, our principal business sponsor of the evening, who made this night oh-so special. Accompanied by her all-female property management team, we learned about the added value they can provide when leasing out your valuable investment property. After all, we all want good tenants and a well maintained property. With their high level of professionalism and eye for detail, you are assured that your most valuable asset is in good hands.

Main course swiftly followed – a mushroom and leek risotto with spinach and truffle oil, or barramundi with beetroot and blood orange and a carrot and tarragon purée, both of which were served with Vinaceous ‘Shakre’ Chardonnay 2012 and Vinaceous ‘Salome’ Tempranillo’ Rose 2013. By this time, the conversation was flowing – between old friends and new. One of the most fantastic things about these evenings are the wide range of women who attend, all of whom have a shared love of wine.

Next came the big surprise of the evening – a jaw-dropping performance by Ms Sina King, Miss Burlesque Australia 2011. Her cheeky style and captivating moves had Mr Vinaceous all of a dither as he was brought up to do an impromptu performance in a blonde wig and red feather boa! Our fabulous ladies were equally entranced by her highly entertaining and tongue-in-cheek performance that captured all the fun of a bygone era.

As the chatter moved from ‘wine’ to ‘shoes’ to ‘how to enrol into a burlesque dance class?’, cheese platters were served accompanied by Vinaceous ‘Red Right Hand’ Shiraz/Grenache/Tempranillo 2011 and Vinaceous ‘Raconteur’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2012.

We then rounded off the evening with delectable desserts of chocolate tart with sour cherries or goats’ milk pannacotta with spring berry salad, along with a glass of Vinaceous Resplendent Rose NV. A total delight for those of us aiming to appease our separate dessert stomach!

The wines from Vinaceous were universally loved and there was so much fun to be had, voting for our favourites with each course. We just can’t wait to do it again soon Melbourne! In the meantime, make sure you’ve Joined Us and you’re also hanging out with us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest & Instagram so you don’t miss out on any future fabulousness coming to your town!!
