The amazing, converted warehouse Rushcutters was our venue for the Sydney Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree with ArtWine on Thursday 16th October 2014.

And what a fabulous night it was! The chefs from Rushcutters prepared a superbly matched menu to suit the gorgeous range of wines our special host, Judy Kelly, had personally chosen from her multi-award winning ArtWine range.
The evening began with canapes of seared Hervey Bay sea scallops, schinken speck and pine nut dressing matched with ArtWine’s Coco Premium Sparkling NV. This delightful pairing brought out all those delicious strawberry and peach notes, and left our tastebuds longing for another sip.

After time spent catching up with old friends and new, we were then seated for the Charcuterie Plate with mustard, dill pickles and remoulade; Pork Hock Upper with mustard crumbs, radicchio and pickled red onion; and a beetroot salad with goats curd, watercress and olive oil.
These dishes perfectly matched the award-winning ArtWine 2013 Polkadot Crispy White (Gold Medal – Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show 2013) and the 2012 ArtWine Pinot Grigio (5 medals from the Royal Sydney, Royal Adelaide, Clare Valley and Winestate Magazine Wine Shows). Both delightful wines for summer, and everyone had difficulty choosing their favourite from these two exceptional wines!
Our first main of roasted farm chicken, stuffing, new season garlic and thyme plus sides, was served with ArtWine’s 2013 Fiano (a new taste sensation to many of our attendees with gorgeous aromatics of violets and florals with hints of nutty characteristics and a dry finish – delicious!) and their 2013 Polkadot Temp-tress Rose, a delicious Rose made from Tempranillo with notes of strawberries and luscious berries and finishing dry with savoury flavours.
The second main of corned veal brisket, kale, sour cream, malt and sides, accompanied ArtWine’s 2012 Graciano (an exciting Spanish variety, deep garnet in colour and displaying dark red Morello cherries and hints of five-spice flavours) and 2012 Tempranillo, a very palatable easy drinking Spanish variety.

To finish, Rushcutters presented a Cheese Platter served with the 2012 Feral Farmer, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon creating a classic Bordeaux sensation. With aromas of berry fruits and anise and hints of luscious dark chocolate, its integrated French oak, gives long palate length with soft tannins on the finish.

As usual, the tone was animated as our fabulous ladies chatted the night away over the winning wine and food combinations, stopping in between courses to hear from Judy Kelly who introduced each wine with the love and knowledge only a true vintner can impart.
Thank you Judy Kelly and ArtWine for making our Sydney Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree at RushCutters so utterly fabulous!! The full photo album from the night can be found here.
See you next time, Sydney!
