The Sydney Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree with Bay of Fires Wines was held at One Ford Street, Balmain on Thursday 11 February 2016. It was our first Fab Ladies event of the year, and what a fabulous night it was!
Hosted by Jane Thomson, founder of The Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society, and Penny Jones, chief winemaker at Bay of Fires Wines in Tasmania, the balmy Sydney summer evening was filled with bucketloads of fun, wine and food, as well as fabulous information about how the wines were made and the story behind the Bay of Fires label.

A competitive game of wine options had everyone choosing heads or tails!
We dined on an exquisite menu designed by the chefs at One Ford Street to match the gorgeous, cool climate Tasmanian wines – which were universally adored. Bay of Fires focus on producing sparkling wines, aromatic whites and lighter style reds, which made them perfect for sipping in the summer heat.
Penny informed us that Tasmania is responsible for less than 1% of Australia’s total wine production. But, boy, does it over deliver on quality. Bay of Fires sources it’s fruit from multiple locations across the apple isle.
The Vino Duo
Sydney’s own ‘The Vino Duo‘ popped in for a surprise visit after the main course and provided our guests with a very entertaining lesson on how to do the 4 S’s of wine appreciation: Swirl, Sniff, Sip, Spit. We even had four fabulous ladies get up and demonstrate their new found skills!
Gorgeous lucky door prizes were provided by Talulah, Proud Pearls and Vinotopia. A huge thank you to all our guests for joining us! The full album of photographs from the evening can be found here.
Of course, the biggest thank you goes to Bay of Fires Wines & Penny Jones for making it such a fabulous night.
