Perth put on a stunning evening on Thursday 10 March as 65 fabulous wine loving women gathered at The Old Brewery on the waterfront to meet and hear from the incredible Dianne Laurance – one of Western Australia’s true fabulous ladies of wine – and to try her award winning Laurance Wines at our first Perth Fabulous Ladies Wine Soiree for 2016.
The evening was hosted by Dianne Laurance herself and by Jane Thomson, founder of The Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society.
We began the evening out on the deck overlooking the river, where even the sky provided the perfect pink backdrop to the night! With a glass of the blushing Laurance Wines ‘Celebrations’ Sparkling wine in hand, we enjoyed canapés of fresh oysters and other deliciously prepared delights.
Once canapés and bubbly were complete, and much laughter shared, we moved inside for the next four courses.
Dianne Laurance is one of Western Australia’s leading entrepreneurs and business women, and started Laurance Wines back in 2006. Today it one of Margaret River’s most iconic cellar doors and her wines punch well above their weight in wine shows around the world.
Dianne spoiled us all by bringing some of the very last Laurance Wines Chardonnay 2007 from her cellar – there are literally now just 12 more bottles left! But she was insistent on ensuring we could try this very special wine, as it was the first wine she ever produced. And wow. What an incredible aged Chardonnay it was. So gloriously complex yet still retaining such freshness and vibrancy. A very special experience we will all cherish.
While we oohed and aahed over the 2007 and the 2012 Chardonnay, there was so much more to come.
Being able to compare the two Icon Cabernet’s was another fabulous gift. Dianne confessed that she loved sitting up in bed at the end of a hard day with a glass of the Laurance Wines The Icon Cabernet Sauvignon! It’s not every lady that goes to bed with an icon whenever she feels like it…
