Taste Great Southern – 5th to 25th March 2018

Taste Great Southern 2018 promises to deliver yet another outstanding program showcasing the produce of this spectacular region.

The Great Southern of Western Australia is one of the most diverse and engaging food and wine regions in Australia. Located along the pristine southern coastline and expanding into the farming hinterland it includes major centres Albany, Denmark and Mt Barker. It also boasts some of the most beautiful and unique natural tourism attractions in the state.

Oh, and did we mention THE WINE?! Some of our absolutely favourite cool climate vino comes from this remarkable pocket of the country. Fabulous wineries like:

… are among the very best of the region.

Great Southern produce is famously fresh, natural, seasonal and exceptional. Foods like oysters and seafood, cereal crops, beef and sheep, vegetables and milk products all excel on the south coast and the wine varietals such as Shiraz, Riesling and Pinot Noir all compete strongly on the world stage.

The main sub-regions, which produce an abundance and diversity of food and wine, include the locations of Frankland River, Mt Barker, Porongurup, Denmark and Albany.

Taste Great Southern runs for 18 days, stretching over three weekends. So there’s plenty of opportunity to make the most of what’s on and discover this gem of a region.
