Join us for a ‘Real Food, Real Wine’ Lunch with Fowles Wine

Okay gals, it’s time to don your best Tweed, pack your smelling salts, yell ‘Tally Ho!’ and get ready for a day in the wild as we join Fowles Wine on Saturday 16 March for their ‘Are you Game? for a Real food, Real wine Lunch’ as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

We’re getting together a Fabulous Ladies’ Wine Society contingent to go along and we want YOU to come with us!!

This most elegant of days begins at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne, where we’ll travel in style to the Strathbogie Ranges in Central Victoria aboard the Art Deco ‘Blue Train’. Guests will then be driven by bus from Seymour station to the Fowles family’s heritage listed Killeen Stables in Longwood.

Greeted on arrival with game canapés, Prosecco and a local blues band, guests will have the chance to pat some four legged friends before watching them spring into action as hunting dogs in a fascinating demonstration.“This year we’ve got an all lady team of expert handlers demonstrating how working dogs retrieve game in the field,” says Fowles Wine CEO Matt Fowles.

Well, I never…

Having worked up an appetite, guests will then be presented with a feast of game meat, Killeen Lamb (raised on the property and butchered in a small local abattoir) and vegetables and fruit which have all been sourced from the property – served alongside matching Ladies who Shoot their Lunch and Are you Game? wines.

After lunch, auctioneer supremo David Fowles will be wielding the hammer on great prizes to raise funds for neuroendocrine cancer charity The Unicorn Foundation. Matt Fowles will then lead a game butchery demonstration for those keen to learn more about how to source, prepare and enjoy wild food.

The dress theme for the day is (of course!) a ‘Touch of Tweed’ and prizes will be given to those in the best tweed garb!

Tickets to ‘Are you Game? for a Real Food, Real Wine Lunch’ cost $180 per person.

Once you’ve secured your ticket let us know! We want a Fabulous Ladies Wine Society contingent to meet up and enjoy the day together. Secure your ticket and then email or tell us via our Facebook wall and let’s have a wonderful day out together! Tally ho!

  1. The Fabulous Ladies

Hi Carlene – If just heard back from the organisers. The train ride is unfortunately not disabled friendly, BUT the day itself – the lunch, the entertainment etc- is definitely fine for wheelchairs. If it's possible for you to make your own way to the event we can meet you there! Would love to see you 🙂

  2. Carlene

    Is this wheelchair accessible
