Why we love these wines
Coonawarra is cool, baby. Really cool. Like, freezing. It’s officially a cool climate wine region, and that means you can expect the wines from here to be elegant, refined, and full of class. A bit like you really. Then there’s the wines from Raidis Estate. They take it up another notch altogether. That’s because these cool climate beauties are also hand-tended, hand picked, hand-made and artisan in style. Plus, did we mention sustainability is at the forefront of everything they do? That’s why the goats feature so prominently on all their wines. Because a herd of goats are what they use in the vineyard to keep the weeds at bay – instead of herbicides. (And they’re more cuddly too.)
Who are Raidis Estate?
There aren’t too many thirty-somethings running their own winery – which they also started themselves from scratch. But that’s exactly the Emma and Steven Raidis story. This dynamic duo have created something that’s fun, fresh and fabulous and are really shaking things up in Coonawarra (which is a very traditional region!) If you’ve been a Fabulous Lady for a while now then you’ll already be familiar with Emma and Raidis Estate, because we’ve criss crossed the country with her over the last couple of years and she’s hosted some of our most popular ever events. We’ve also featured them before here in the Online Wine Club. Because we know fabulous wine and fabulous producers when we see them!

Raidis Estate 2018 ‘The Kid’ Riesling
Region: Coonawarra, South Australia
RRP: $20.00 as at 27/06/2018
How’s this for wine trivia? Back in the day, there used to be more Riesling cropped in Coonawarra than there was Cabernet! (It’s Cabernet Sauvignon which the region is internationally famous for.) So it’s only fitting that we start to give Coonawarra Riesling the attention it deserves. This one was bottled only a few weeks ago, so it’s fresh as a daisy, and we were the first people in the world to try it last week at our Melbourne & Geelong Fabulous Ladies Wine Soirees – where it proved to be one of the favourite wines of the night. Bright, floral, crisp and dry with gorgeous minerality it’s got ‘cheese platter’ written all over its face.
Raidis Estate 2015 Wild Goat Shiraz
RRP: $28.00 as at 27/06/18
While Cabernet may be the hero red of the region, this Shiraz is ready to lock horns and kick it out of the paddock. The Raidis vineyards have the most southerly Shiraz vines in the area so that means that this is even more elegant, soft and peppery than is typical for the area, with juicy blue and purple fruits leading the charge. There’s also that distinctive Coonawarra flavour combo of mint, eucalyptus and dried, savoury herbs supporting the palate. If you like things understated, yet also stylish and perfectly at ease no matter the occasion, then this is the shiraz you’ve been looking for. Trust us. Or, at least, trust the 600+ fabulous wine loving women who’ve said the same at the events where they’ve tried this!
