Voyager Estate

One of the region's most magnificent wineries

Why are they so fabulous?

The vineyards of Voyager Estate were established in 1978 and purchased by local mining identity Michael Wright in 1991. But it’s his fabulous daughter Alexandra Burt who has been at the helm of this phenomenally successful label and cellar door for many years.

In the remote Stevens Valley Margaret River, lies an ancient patch of gravel loam earth – Voyager Estate – where ocean breeze tempers the south western sun to yield fine vintages unlike any other.

Voyager Estate is the story of the adventurous Wright family who, with their passion for the region and land conservation, have over the course of 40 years committed their passion for organic farming and viticulture to develop one of Australia’s most celebrated independent wineries.

In pursuit of authentic expression, their artisans select only the finest grapes grown organically on their property, working carefully to accentuate their unique characteristics.

To lead the way in production of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, Voyager Estate use minimal input methods and organic farming practices which encourage the vines to work harder and go deeper, producing truly site-expressive wines with a genuine sense of place.

A long-term commitment to the environment and wine quality underpins their approach to organic farming, renewable energy, recycling, carbon footprint reduction, land rehabilitation & revegetation activities, and a 100 per cent carbon neutral stance. With 80 hectares of vineyard currently undergoing organic conversion, Voyager Estate look forward to producing their first certified wines in 2020.

In perfect contrast to its untamed setting, Voyager Estate is an oasis of cool elegance, composed of lush gardens with a Cape Dutch manor house at its heart.

Guests are invited behind the scenes to discover the alchemy of their wines; the knowledge of art, science and nature their craftsmen have cultivated for over 40 years.

Whether it be touring the Estate and tasting wine straight from the barrel, or enjoying a private tasting, Voyager Estate’s range of experiences are designed to immerse guests in a journey from vineyard to table. Voted Best Tasting Experience by Gourmet Traveller Wine 2018 for the past three years, their Wine Room offers wines to taste or buy paired with locally-sourced produce plates.

Their unique degustation restaurant carries their wine-first philosophy from the vineyard to the table, where guests are invited to taste seven dishes inspired by seven vintages.

Served daily by Head Chef Santi Fernandez and Team, the Restaurant was recently voted ‘Best Regional restaurant’, ‘Best Regional Chef’ and included in the ‘Top 5 restaurants in WA’, by WA Good Food Guide 2018.
