Why Are They So Fabulous?
Surrounded by vineyards, gum trees and geese (yes, geese!) Serafino occupies a prime position just back from the bustling township of McLaren Vale.
If the ‘vines by the sea’ vibe hasn’t already charmed you, then the incredibly scenic setting for Serafino’s cellar door, restaurant and function centre surely will.
There is a lot to love here, sampling an extensive range of wines (no fewer than seven different labels!) served with warm hospitality in an historic building is just the start. Treat yourself to a meal in the restaurant, or bring along a picnic to enjoy by the dam in the shade of the soaring gums. Here you are right on the famed “Shiraz Trail” so riding a bike to and from Serafino is also an option!
Which Wines Should I Try?
Serafino Bellissimo Fiano – With it’s Mediterranean climate, McLaren Vale is perfect for Fiano. Think honeysuckle and orange blossom. Bursting with citrus, stone fruits and lemon rind it is perfect with food.
Serafino Reserve Grenache – McLaren Vale is famed for producing the most elegant grenache in Australia, and this one is no exception! So silky and fresh, bursting with generosity and fine, supple tannins.
Serafino Terremoto Syrah – At the top end of Serafino’s wine labels is the Terremoto Syrah at $120 a bottle. Adorned with glittering trophies and accolades (like 97 points from James Halliday for the most recent release) this is a seriously special drop of silky, spiced McLaren Vale shiraz.
