Why Are They So Fabulous?
A homely and welcoming historic cellar door.
An epic #winechick as owner operator.
An underdiscovered wine region.
There is so much to love about 919 Wines in the Riverland that we could burst!
How about the owners, Jenny & Eric Semmler’s philosophy:
“We want to make wines with the flavours you thirst for: an honest expression of the vineyard, the varieties and the environment. Our wines reflect your values: purity, integrity and sustainability.”
No arguments here!
919 Wines specialises in producing high quality wines from non-traditional varieties such as Petit Manseng, Durif, Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional.
There is also an acclaimed range of fortified wines, from super dry and appetising to long, luscious and decadent.
The awards cabinet is very full too;

- 2015 BrandSA Telstra Small Business Award
- 2014 BrandSA Regional Wine Award

Which Wines Should I Try?
919 Reserve Collection Petit Manseng – Stylish and textured, with fresh floral and honeyed pome fruit aromas. The palate is dry but creamy, with subtle oak and a crisp finish. We love this with pork and rabbit terrine with nettle and samphire salsa, or a mild blue cheese.
919 Reserve Collection Pale Dry Arepa – A savoury aperitif wine that is perfect at the end of a long hot day. It suits casual dining, such as crunchy green olives, pretzels, sardines, tapas style foods, gazpacho, garlic soup.
919 Reserve Durif – Durif is not for the faint-hearted, characteristically having dense colour with purple and black tints, intense aromas of blackberry, mulberry, violets and blackberry. The palate is bold, firm and textural with flavours of berries, black pepper, cocoa and coffee, well integrated oak and a long finish. Pair it to hearty beef with black pepper or quandong sauces, dark chocolate, and mulberry pavlova.
