Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz 2010

You just know that with a name like “Ladies Who Shoot”, this wine is not aimed to appeal to the overtly petite, squeamish and hysterically girly end of the female wine consuming market. And we LOVE that. In fact, it really has very little to do with “Ladies” and more to do with the food that it has been designed to be enjoyed with.

Ladies Who Shoot is produced by Fowles Wine in Victoria’s Strathbogie Ranges and they are the first wines in the world to be specially blended to match with wild game.

The Lowdown:

If the name alone isn’t enough to arrest your interest then the intoxicating aromas of dark chocolate and dried berries are sure to make you rethink your attitude to armaments of all kinds.

There’s a full battalion of flavours going on here – pepper, spice, deep red berries – but that alone doesn’t entirely account for the excitement that explodes through you as it hits your mouth. There‘s something of the ‘X Factor’ about this wine. And yes, it’s a little more than you normally pay. But the value here is outrageously good – easily ousting wines more than three times this price. And don’t you deserve a special drop every now and then?

Drink With:

Enjoy on a picnic rug, with terrine and maybe a game of bocce. Or if you’re game (boom tish) then try it with venison or wild hare.

Price: About $35.00
