Guide Dogs NSW/ACT hopes the 25 September launch of its own ‘Guide Dogs Wine Club’ will help the organisation raise more funds to support the independence of the growing number of people who are blind or vision impaired.
By 2020 it is estimated that the number of NSW and ACT residents with a vision condition that cannot be corrected by glasses, lenses or Lasik surgery will increase by 20,000 to 120,000, including 40,000 who are blind[i].
“We rely on the public’s generosity to provide services that enable people who are blind or vision impaired to be independent,” says Julia Edwards, Fundraising Manager at Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
“To keep up with demand for these services, we’re hoping our new wine club will offer people with a unique and enjoyable way to contribute.”
With wines supplied by the award-winning Tyrrell’s Wines, the Guide Dogs Wine Club will be launched on Wednesday 25 September at Kingsley’s Steakhouse in Sydney, at the charity’s inaugural Spring Supporter Dinner.
The public are invited to attend the dinner, where they will hear an overview of the Australian wine industry from renowned wine maker and owner of Tyrrell’s Wines Bruce Tyrrell, while enjoying a four course meal accompanied by selected Tyrrell’s quality wines.
“We’re excited to be able to extend our association with Guide Dogs NSW/ACT through the launch of the Guide Dogs Wine Club,” says Mr Tyrrell.
“For the past 20 years we’ve been delivering quality wines to Guide Dogs supporters and the wine club will add even more pleasure to their support. We look forward to assisting the organisation’s wonderful work for a long time into the future.”
Tickets for the fundraising dinner are $90 per person. It will be held at 7pm, Wednesday 25 September 2013, at Kingsley’s on King St, Sydney CBD.
