An Extraordinarily Intimate Winter Escape to Margaret River
Six Days. Nine Guests. One of the World’s Great Wine Regions.
Margaret River doesn’t need an introduction. What it needs is time — and most people simply don’t give it enough.
This is a tour built entirely around that idea. Six unhurried days in one of the world’s most remarkable wine regions, with a group of just nine other women, going deeper than any standard visit ever could. Down gravel roads that don’t appear on wine trail maps. Into cellars that don’t do walk-ins. Around tables with the winemakers themselves.
This corner of Western Australia has a character all its own — ancient karri forests tumbling toward a wild Indian Ocean coast, a wine culture built by passionate individualists rather than inherited dynasties, and in winter, a quiet that descends over the valley that makes everything feel more personal, more real. The summer crowds are gone. The people who love this place the most are still here. And they’re the ones we’ll be spending our time with.
With only nine guests (7 single spots and 1 twin-share for two available), this is the most intimate tour we have ever offered. And Margaret River, it turns out, rewards intimacy enormously.
Some of the Margaret River women in wine you’ll be meeting and sipping with include:
- Vanya Cullen (Cullen Wines) – a living legend of Australian wine. Vanya is one of the most acclaimed and pioneering winemakers in the country, and a biodynamic trailblazer. An afternoon with Vanya is nothing short of extraordinary.
- Wendy Stimpson (Passel Estate) – a passionate and meticulous producer of terroir-driven wines at one of the region’s most exciting boutique estates. Wendy will guide us through a truly unique wine and chocolate pairing you won’t find anywhere else.
- Josephine Perry (Dormilona) – one of Australia’s most distinctive and beloved winemakers, crafting natural, minimally-interventionist wines that are full of personality. Josephine’s wines are talked about from Margaret River to Brooklyn, and meeting her in person is something truly special.
- Ulrika Larsson (Clairault-Streicker) – a former winner of the Cellar Door Person of the Year at the Australian Women in Wine Awards, and a hand-picked participant of Wine Australia’s Next Crop program — a highly competitive leadership pathway for the region’s brightest rising stars.

Why Our Tours are Truly Different
This isn’t just another wine tour. It’s something far more special—and far more rare.
Every woman in wine on this itinerary has personally committed her time to be with you. Not a cellar door staff member. Not a representative. The actual winemaker or owner herself—pouring her wines, sharing her stories, answering your questions, and welcoming you into her world.
Vanya Cullen. Josephine Perry. Wendy Stimpson. These are incredibly busy women running successful wine businesses, and coordinating their availability takes months of careful planning. But they’ve said yes to this tour because they’re passionate about sharing what they do—and they want to meet you. This is access you simply can’t get anywhere else. It’s personal. It’s intimate. And it’s absolutely unforgettable.

Into Margaret River — and one of the region’s great estates
After breakfast, we depart Perth bright and early and make our way down to the stunning Margaret River wine region — where the ocean air meets ancient karri forests and world-class wine country.

Vasse Felix and an unforgettable evening
After a leisurely continental breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a truly exceptional day at Vasse Felix — Margaret River’s founding winery, and still one of its finest. With winemaker extraordinaire Virginia Wilcock at the helm. This is a long, immersive experience from 11am to 3:30pm: think beautiful wines, magnificent food, and that sense of being somewhere that has shaped Australian wine history.
Then, just when you think the day couldn’t get any better, we’re heading out later that evening to a secret location for an intimate, fireside dinner that will transport you back to Margaret River’s earliest settlement days.

Day 4 – Tuesday 4 August 2026 — The Foundations of Wine Day
Blending your own wine and an afternoon with Vanya Cullen
Ever wondered how Margaret River’s world-famous red blends are made? After breakfast, we depart for a private wine blending session at Clairault-Streicker with the fabulous Ulrika Larsson — a hands-on, deliciously fun experience where you’ll craft your very own blend under expert guidance!
Then it’s time for lunch at Masseria (or similar) — a gorgeous, convivial Italian-inspired lunch. This is exactly the kind of long, generous, wine-soaked afternoon that Margaret River does so perfectly.
The afternoon brings one of the tour’s most anticipated moments: a private tasting with Vanya Cullen at Cullen Wines, accompanied by beautiful cheese boards. Vanya is a giant of Australian wine — a biodynamic pioneer and one of the country’s most admired winemakers. To spend an afternoon with her, at her estate, is a genuine privilege.
The evening is free and yours at leisure. We’d highly recommend a visit to The Settlers Tavern for a bite and a sip, the legendary wine destination in Margaret River township owned by Karen Gough, a multi-award-winning sommelier and Hall of Fame inductee.

Day 5 – Wednesday 5 August 2026 — The Up-and-Comers Day
Passel Estate, a distillery, Josephine Perry — and a farewell to remember
Today we celebrate the exciting next generation of Margaret River wine, beginning with a visit to Passel Estate for a tour, tasting and a unique chocolate pairing hosted by the wonderful Wendy Stimpson. Wendy’s wines are terroir-driven, considered, and genuinely delicious — and the chocolate pairing is something you won’t forget.
After Passel Estate, we head to the Margaret River Distillery (Limeburners) for a light lunch and a gin cocktail — a fun and convivial mid-afternoon pause.
Next up is a tasting with the brilliant and distinctive Josephine Perry at Dormilona — one of Australia’s most talked-about natural winemakers, whose wines are as full of personality as she is.
And then: our farewell dinner at the exquisite Cape Lodge Restaurant — one of the most beautiful and acclaimed restaurants in the entire Margaret River region. It’s the perfect ending to a perfectly fabulous few days.

+ - Your Accommodation
For four of our five nights together, the gorgeous Heritage Trail Lodge is your home — and it’s a very good one. Set quietly in the forest on the edge of Margaret River town, the Lodge offers a genuine sense of retreat: peaceful, unhurried, and beautifully suited to a group of women who want to wind down at the end of a big day of wine. A light (but generous) continental breakfast is available each morning.
All suites are set in the forest area of the property, all are spa-equipped, and all are blissfully quiet. There are two suite types available for this tour, and we want to be upfront about what makes them different — because we think knowing in advance is far better than wondering when you arrive.
Superior Suite — Recently Refurbished (3 available, single only)
The Superior Suites have just been refurbished and are the Lodge’s most polished option. Beautifully appointed, with all the forest tranquility and spa you’d expect, plus that freshly-done feeling that makes a room feel genuinely special. There are only 3 of these available for our group, and they are offered to single guests only. These suites are priced slightly higher to reflect their premium finish. If you want to add a little more luxe to your Margaret River experience we recommend jumping in and grabbing one of these while you can.
Forest View Spa Suite — Still Wonderful (5 available, single and twin share)
The Forest View Spa Suites are absolutely lovely. Don’t let the second-option framing fool you! They’re spacious, quiet, and set among the trees with their own spa, and they represent exceptional value for what is genuinely a beautiful place to stay. There are 5 of these suites: 4 for single guests, and 1 configured for twin share, making this the only twin share option on the tour. These suites are priced just slightly lower than the Superior Suites.
When you book, you’ll be asked to select your preferred suite type, and your tour price will reflect that choice. Twin share guests will automatically be allocated the Forest View Spa Suite. Given that Superior Suites are limited to just 3, we’d recommend booking early if that’s your preference — once they’re gone, they’re gone!
For our opening night, in Perth, we’ll be staying at the Art Series Adnate Hotel and all rooms are of equal quality.
