This is it! The tour we’ve been working on for nearly two years. A journey designed exclusively for those who want an immersive, top level adventure into Greece’s culture, cuisine, and winemaking heritage. Avoiding tourist traps and experiencing the real Greece, with wine (and food!) as the focus.
Did you know that it was the ancient Greeks—especially the Athenians— we can thank for giving wine its prominence in society? They weren’t the first to produce it (that honour goes to Georgia and Armenia) but they were the first to truly understand its power: as a drink of the gods, a tool of diplomacy, and a gateway to deep conversation.
Heard of a “Symposium”? That was what the Athenians called their official wine drinking gatherings where politics, poetry, art life & philosophy were discussed. Symposia were a hallmark of Athenian society. The Athenians also helped bring wine culture to southern Italy, France, and even Spain – laying the foundation for what became the great wine cultures of Europe.
On this incredible tour we’ll follow the vine back to its philosophical and cultural roots, swim in crystal clear water, take in the archaeological wonders, visit the very best (and often hidden!) wineries of Greece & dine on exquisite food.

Day 1 – Tuesday 01: Welcome to Athens
Athens – the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, and Western civilisation – is where your journey begins. On arrival, a private transfer whisks you to the elegant Perianth Hotel, a contemporary haven in the city’s historic heart.
This evening, time for a special welcome dinner. As the Acropolis glows golden in the twilight, you’ll share your first taste of Greek flavours and raise a glass to the adventure ahead.

Day 2 – Wednesday 02: Ancient wonders & timeless tastes
Awake to the hum of Athens and set off with your private guide to explore the Acropolis – a timeless symbol of human achievement – and the National Archaeological Museum, where myth and history intertwine. Here you’ll uncover how wine and food were not merely sustenance but central to worship, community, and celebration in ancient Greece.
After a leisurely lunch, return to the hotel for time to relax or explore Athens at your own pace.
In the early evening, gather for an exclusive introduction to Greek wine led by a professional sommelier. Over a guided tasting, you’ll sample a curated selection of varietals that reveal Greece’s remarkable diversity. Each pour is paired with artisanal charcuterie and cheeses, offering a delicious window into the country’s terroir.
It’s the perfect way to deepen your appreciation of Greek wine before your journey continues into the regions where it is made.

Day 3 – Thursday 03: Myths, legends & the wines of Nemea
Step back 3,000 years with a private guided visit to Mycenae, the legendary stronghold of King Agamemnon. Walk through the Lion Gate, gaze upon the beehive tombs, and feel the power of ancient Greece come alive.
From myth to modern mastery, you’ll continue into the rolling vineyards of Nemea – one of Greece’s most celebrated wine regions. Your first stop is Palivou Estate, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by Evangelia Palivou, a pioneering female winemaker who has championed the indigenous Agiorgitiko grape. Over a regional lunch and tasting, Evangelia shares her story of heritage, innovation, and her deep connection to the land.
In the afternoon, visit Domaine Skouras, founded by the visionary George Skouras. Internationally acclaimed for his meticulous craftsmanship, Skouras produces elegant, expressive wines that have helped redefine Greece’s place on the global wine map. Sample his celebrated Agiorgitiko and Moscofilero while soaking up the beauty of Nemea’s landscape.
Dinner this evening is at leisure – your last evening in the capital before departing for Tinos and island life tomorrow.

Day 4 – Friday 04: Island charm in Tinos
This morning, leave the city behind and sail by ferry to the soulful island of Tinos. With its whitewashed villages, marble artistry, and slower rhythm, Tinos feels like a hidden gem. Check into the luxurious Odera Hotel, where sea views stretch endlessly before you.
In the afternoon, enjoy a private tour of the island’s villages, rich in folklore and artistic heritage.
Tonight, gather for a delicious dinner to taste Tinos’ celebrated flavours.

Day 5 – Saturday 05: Wineries & heritage of Tinos
Tinos is an island of quiet magic – a place where ancient stone wine presses are still etched into the landscape. Today you’ll trace this winemaking legacy before arriving at Messaia Winery, and meeting Eleni Alevra. Passionate about reviving old vineyards and blending them with modern techniques, Eleni shares her personal journey as a woman shaping Tinos’ wine story. Walk through her vines, explore an abandoned village nearby, and taste wines that speak of volcanic soils and sea breezes.
Dinner this evening rounds out a day steeped in heritage and flavour.

Day 6 – Sunday 06: The magic of Santorini
Board your ferry to Santorini, Greece’s most iconic island. Your home for the next three nights is Santo Pure Suites, where each suite offers a private pool or jacuzzi – the epitome of indulgence.
Tonight, the island’s famed sunsets are yours to savour during a private Caldera picnic. As the sky melts into shades of crimson and gold, you’ll sip Santorini wines and nibble local delicacies in one of the world’s most unforgettable settings.

Day 7 – Monday 07: Volcanic wines & local flavours
Santorini’s volcanic soil produces some of the most distinctive wines on earth, and this morning you’ll enjoy a private visit to the iconic Hatzidakis Winery. Founded in 1997 by the late Haridimos Hatzidakis, the estate is now carried forward with vision by his daughter Stella Hatzidakis and co-winemaker Konstantina Chryssou Hatzidakis, producing organic, biodynamic wines that honour Santorini’s unique terroir. Taste their acclaimed Assyrtiko and hear how their work preserves both tradition and innovation.
The afternoon is yours to relax before a special evening unfolds. Begin with a private walking tour of Oia, Santorini’s most photogenic village, where whitewashed houses tumble down the cliffs and blue-domed chapels glow in the late-afternoon light. Stroll hidden lanes and soak in those iconic Caldera views before arriving at Domaine Sigalas.
Here, you’ll enjoy an elegant wine-paired dinner that showcases Sigalas’ world-class volcanic wines alongside exquisite island cuisine. It’s a magical combination of place, flavour, and friendship – an evening that captures the very essence of Santorini.

Day 8 – Tuesday 08: An afternoon on the water
Sail into the heart of the caldera on a private catamaran cruise. With swimming, snorkelling, and panoramic views of Santorini’s cliffs, the morning unfolds at a leisurely pace. Onboard, enjoy freshly prepared dishes, wine, lots of laughter and the joy of the moment.
This is Santorini at its most effortless – luxury, relaxation, and beauty all around.

Day 9 – Wednesday 09: Crete – land of legends
Today it is time to head to Crete, Greece’s largest and most diverse island. Arriving in Heraklion, you’ll settle into Rocca a Mare, your boutique base with old-world charm.
This evening, enjoy a relaxed group dinner as you settle into Crete’s warm embrace.

Day 10 – Thursday 10: Biodynamic wines & Rethymno
Today brings another highlight: a private visit to Iliana Malihin Winery, led by the passionate Iliana Malihin herself. Revered as one of Crete’s rising stars, Iliana has dedicated herself to reviving old terraced vineyards of Liatiko, working with local growers and pioneering biodynamic practices. Her wines capture both authenticity and innovation, reflecting Crete’s new voice on the global wine stage.
Afterwards, enjoy a light lunch and time to wander in Rethymno, one of Crete’s most atmospheric towns with Venetian charm and seaside flair.
Return to the hotel and the rest of the afternoon and evening is a leisure.

Day 11 – Friday 11: Knossos & a winery picnic
This morning, step into one of the most storied sites in Greece – the Palace of Knossos. Home to the legend of the Minotaur, it is a place where myth and archaeology blur.
Later, journey to Lyrarakis Winery, a pioneering family estate in Crete. Meet Katerina Lyraraki, part of the family’s next generation, who is deeply committed to preserving rare indigenous varieties. Over a rustic al fresco picnic among the vines, you’ll taste her wines and hear how she is safeguarding Crete’s viticultural heritage for the future.
This evening, a farewell dinner is the perfect finale – a celebration of friendship, discovery, and the joy of sharing wine together.

Day 12 – Saturday 12: Farewell Greece
After breakfast, a private transfer takes you to Heraklion Airport for your return flight to Athens and onward journey.
As you say farewell, you carry home more than memories – you carry the flavours, stories, and friendships that have made this odyssey uniquely yours.

A minimum of 8 guests is required for this tour to depart. The maximum number of guests is 12. If minimum numbers are not reached, we will discuss this with you well before departure to finalise how to proceed i.e. re-quote with less participants or cancel the departure. If we cancel the departure your tour deposit will be refunded.
We do not refund deposits for any other reason than we cancel the departure. We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance to protect against cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances.
A reasonable level of fitness and mobility are required due to uneven terrain to participate on this tour. You will be walking in vineyards, hilly areas, and navigating steep stairs – and you will need to be able to participate in all activities.
It doesn’t often happen, but please note that the advertised itinerary may change without notice. Sometimes things are beyond our control and changes need to be made. Please be assured that any changes will be of the same quality as the replaced visit or experience wherever possible.
