The Fabulous Itinerary
The final schedule for the 2016 tour will be released approximately a month before departure. To give you a taste of what you are in for, here’s the itinerary we followed for 2015. This year’s one will be very similar but be prepared for a few changes – of course all alterations will be just as fabulous!!
Day 1: Sunday
Check in to the sumptuous Sofitel Arc de Triomphe in Paris and meet your fabulous hosts Jane and Amanda for a welcome cocktail in the Sofitel Bar at 6:30pm. After a getting-to-know-you drink at the Sofitel Bar, we will dine at Les Cocottes, a typical Parisian Bistro recently opened in the hotel by esteemed chef Christian Constant, for a delightful Parisian dinner!
Day 2: Monday
Enjoy a morning of Paris sightseeing at your leisure or join us for a private perfume masterclass at the historic and world famous Guerlain Perfumerie on the Champs Elysee (optional extra). Meet at reception with your luggage at 2pm to be chauffeured to the beautiful Champagne Region. After checking in at the altogether too fabulous Chateau de Rilly we will be chauffeured to Les Crayères in Reims for a beautiful three course meal at Les Jardins restaurant with local champagnes exclusively chosen by chief sommelier, Philippe Jamesse.
Day 3: Tuesday
Breakfast is at the Chateau, before embarking on a morning of tasting at Veuve Clicquot! After a tour of this world famous estate and cellars (and a tasting of course!) we will then lunch at the glorious maison of Jacquard Champagne with the extremely effervescent Floriane Eznack – chef de cave. Floriane will take us through a champagne and food tasting exercise as well as a visit through the Jacquard cellars.
We will finish the day with a very special visit of Canard Duchene, including a demonstration of the noble art of sabrage, a visit of their cellars and a wonderful cocktail dinner function tasting a selection of their beautiful champagnes.
Day 4: Wednesday
After breakfasting at the glorious Chateau we will start the day visiting the renowned grower Champagne Vilmart for a tasting of a selection of their champagnes and a tour of their facility.
This will be followed by a decadent lunch at the glorious Veuve Fourny in the famous Cote de Blancs where you will discover the secrets of Blanc de Blanc champagnes in the company of Charles Fourny. The afternoon will be spent visiting another little Cote de Blanc treasure – Champagne Olivier Bonville – and we will taste his famous single vineyard champagne in the vineyards (weather permitting).
We will dine at the lovely Chateau restaurant for dinner – with more Champagne of course!
Day 5: Thursday
After breakfast at the Chateau we will head to the hallowed grounds of the CIVC for a pedagogique tasting with one of their head sommeliers. This will be followed by a very special lunch at Bistro le 7, one of Epernay’s best bistros.
The afternoon will be spent with a private tour and tasting at Pol Roger, and a stroll along the famous Avenue de Champagne.
We then head off to afternoon drinks with the wonderful Caroline Brun, daughter of champagne maker Roger Brun and independent champagne ambassador. Caroline will welcome us into her private, 18th century stately home for a champagne tasting of smaller grower champagnes.
We will finish the day checking into the wonderful 17th Century Chateau d’Etoge. Complete with moat, this chateau was once the playground of French kings and their court. After checking in, we will enjoy a gastronomique dinner at the chateau’s award winning restaurant.
Day 6: Friday
Following breakfast at the Chateau we will be going to the House of Bollinger for a private guided tour, and an exclusive lunch with a selection of Bollinger cuvees. After Bollinger, we will head to the recently world heritage listed cellars of Champagne Ruinart for a tour and tasting.
Our last night in champagne will be spent in the marvellous grounds of the chateau d’Etoge with a decadent final night dinner at their restaurant.
