ArtWine Graciano 2012
You may have to put your tongue between your teeth and say it in your breathiest voice – ‘Grathiano’ – for the authentic pronunciation, but this deep red, softly spiced Spanish varietal from one of Australia’s most exciting alternative style producers will add some hot spark to a cold winter’s night.
This wine is like a big festival of red cherries with a bit of Latin lover thrown in – indicated by the deep colour, medium-body, cheeky freshness and savoury, fine tannins which give it a little kick at the end. If you’ve never tried Graciano before, we’re here to ask you right now…What’s stopping you? This is a brilliant one to get started with. I’ve tried their 2010 and think this vintage is even tastier.
And given that Graciano is temperature tolerant and drought resistant, it’s likely you’ll see a LOT more of it in the next few decades. This one is produced by the gorgeous folk at ArtWine from their Clare Valley vineyard in South Australia.
Slabs of crusty bread and some Spanish ham. Just as good with a barbecue on a hot summer’s day too.
